DDC is looking to fill a role of a Mechanical Drafter (12-month contract, with possibility of extension). You will make a difference everyday as you navigate the following duties and responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical assemblies to support the development of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)  
  • Create and maintain mechanical drawings for assembly and manufacturing purposes
  • Generate and maintain bill of materials (BOM)
  • Liaise with external suppliers and manufacturers to source required components
  • Examine mechanical parts & assemblies to ensure conformity with design specifications
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues which arise during bench or flight testing
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation pertaining to system designs, manufacturing procedures or test results

 

Education, Professional Development & Work Experience:

  • University degree or college diploma in aerospace, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in an engineering or related position
  • Experience designing components and/or assemblies for manufacturing using computer aided design (CAD) software
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience designing safety critical systems for aerospace and/or manned vehicles 
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical assembly and manufacturing
  • Experience with composite material design and/or manufacturing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

 Hours of Work, Work Environment and Potential Travel

  • 12-month contract, with possibility of extension
  • 37.5 hours per week and some overtime occasionally
  • 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Position is predominantly in an engineering lab, and field projects is expected
  • Must be able to travel both domestically & internationally from time to time
  • Valid Class-G driver’s license in good standing and regular access to a personal vehicle required
