We currently have a career opportunity for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Technician. The UAV Technician will be part of the Engineering team.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Assemble and integrate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) from the component level up
  • Ensure all components are assembled and configured correctly and safely according to mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, standard procedures or other specifications
  • Create and / or maintain documentation of systems and assembly, manufacturing or quality assurance procedures
  • Perform regular inspection and maintenance tasks to ensure aircraft flight-readiness  
  • Control and organize tools and inventory within the production environment
  • Prepare technical reports and briefings based on test results
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in electrical, mechanical or mechatronics engineering
  • At least 1 year of professional experience working in an electrical / robotics lab or manufacturing environment
  • At least 1 year of wiring, soldering, crimping and other electrical assembly experience
  • Hands on mechanical assembly skills including working with power tools and cutting materials
  • Hands-on experience with electronics, embedded systems, autopilots, robotics and / or mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel, Word, etc.

 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in or knowledge of the UAV industry
  • Experience assembling, configuring and/or working with safety critical systems
  • Experience working with and / or manufacturing composite materials & structures
  • Experience using computer aided design (CAD) software

Hours of Work, Work Environment and Potential Travel

 

  • 37.5 hours per week and some overtime occasionally
  • 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Position is predominantly in an engineering lab, and field projects is expected
  • Some travel within Canada required
  • Valid Class-G driver’s license in good standing and regular access to a personal vehicle required
